Keynote

Monday, November 3rd
Kay McFarland Japanese Garden

Dr. Jennifer Smith

Today’s youth are growing up in a world filled with digital overload, constant comparison, and increasing mental health challenges. At KACEE’s 2025 Conference, we’ll explore how environmental education and time in nature can offer a powerful counterbalance—building resilience, curiosity, and calm. Join us for a keynote, presented by Dr. Jennifer Smith, on The Anxious Generation, followed by a reflective and restorative experience in the Topeka Zoo’s Japanese Garden, where we’ll reconnect with the natural world and discover simple, meaningful ways to help our students (and ourselves) breathe a little easier.

Submit a Proposal

Call For Proposals Submission Deadline: Friday, August 29, 2025

The Kansas Association for Conservation and Environmental Education (KACEE) invites YOU—educators, administrators, community leaders, program providers, researchers, and advocates—to share your knowledge, tools, and inspiration at the 2025 Kansas Environmental Education Conference.

This year’s theme, Environmental Education is the Answer, highlights how environmental education (EE) addresses some of the most pressing challenges facing our students, schools, and communities today—from rising youth anxiety to climate resilience, from academic engagement to whole child well-being.

We are seeking proposals that explore how EE serves as an antidote in today’s world—supporting mental health, sparking curiosity, building stronger communities, and creating greener, healthier learning environments.
